I do not use imgur.com, so I cannot recall how I stumbled across an interesting gallery titled, “Sexism goes both ways. Feminism helps both.” The person collected multiple cartoons about sexism, gender stereotypes, and painful attitudes about gender and sex. All of the cartoons were originally drawn by another imgur user, Rasenth from Japan.
As of this posting, the collection has only been up for 10 days but it has been very popular.
Most of the cartoons are thought provoking, and while many of the comments are supportive, a few comments about one particular cartoon in the set especially bothered me.
Many comments argued that groping a woman’s breast and kicking a man’s groin were not comparable. I did not read all of the hundreds of comments on the topic, but I read many of them and none of the comments I read addressed the actual issue.
