I am apprehensive, but I will cross the border in to Belize today. I have written many pages about my experiences in this transition and my plans, and I wanted to share them with everyone before I went to Belize because I will not have electricity or internet on a regular basis.
I was unable to finish writing because sometimes my anxiety makes a task very difficult to finish. It is difficult to predict what tasks my symptoms will affect, and I certainly did not expect that my anxiety would prevent me from writing, especially because the last two months have seen improvements in my life and this plan has significant potential. Anxiety is a disorder, and the definition of disorder is “that which interferes with normal life functioning.” Yes, it is interfering.
One of the wonderful developments of the last two months is that my support network has expanded. Therefore, the information I wanted to share might still be posted in the coming days. I have already written about half of the post I wanted to make. The remainder of the post can be adapted from private emails I have sent to a few people and some notes I have made. I have reached out to some friends and asked them to cobble together the last half of the post from those emails and notes. If you want to help compile and edit this post, send an email to [email protected]. Even if I do not see the email, a friend is monitoring the email, so someone will see your offer to assist.
I cannot emphasize enough how important my support network is to me. I would be sleeping on the street and starving if not for your help. Many people help with small amounts, and those small amounts add up to enough for me to have food and shelter. A tent is not as nice as a dorm room in a hostel, but it is much better than door step in downtown Mexico City.
Furthermore, many people have helped me to research how to transition to this new lifestyle. Without their help, I would have already crawled into a closet because of the stress. In fact, I am going to Belize specifically because someone recommended it. (I know that some people have the perception that I do not take advice from others, but that belief is absolutely false.)
