Steps to produce psilocybin
- Sterilize equipment
- Prepare “seed” from fruiting bodies or from spores
- Prepare substrate in container
- Add the “seed” to the substrate container
- Put seeded substrate container into colonizing chamber
- When substrate is fully colonized, add sterile water
- Put fully colonized substrate container into fruiting chamber
- Use spores and fruiting bodies to create new “seed”
- Harvest and preserve fruit bodies
Equipment cost and status
Since the first post, I have updated actual costs, researched and revised projected costs, and refined the equipment list. To improve readability, I have broken the items into multiple tables.

Finding the nutrient substrate was impossible. I bought some alternatives, but I’m still researching how to proceed. I might need to buy some other grain.
I must make at least four new agar plates, so I must have the digital scale. I feel that I should be able to get a better price, though.
I’m using the duct tape and super glue for important things such as the chambers. Therefore, I will buy quality instead of junk.
I’m ambivalent about thermometers in the substrate because I expect the cost to be excessive.
