A specific type of confirmation bias colors our political views

The human mind tends to categorize politicians, maybe even over-categorize them. Our general knowledge about a category (i.e. “Republican”) can override specific knowledge (i.e. knowledge of McCain) even if the general knowledge is wrong and the specific knowledge is more accurate.
