Thunderstorms, a great friend, and chocolate

In another post, I will explain why I am writing this. Today, I acknowledge that I am grateful for the following three things.

Thunderstorms
Until I was 16 years old, I spent most of my life in Houston, Texas with a few years in South Florida and San Diego. Houston has the same annual rainfall as a tropical rainforest and South Florida is plenty wet. The thunderstorms in Texas can last for days and usually last for many hours. As long as I am sheltered from the rain, I love the sounds, the smells, and sights of rain and thunder and lightning.

Waleed
I have know Waleed since we were 14 years old. He taught me how to play Magic: the Gathering, which eventually became a career. He knows me well. He has seen many of my greatest flaws. He knew me when I was an angry monster. But he still loves me. I often do not feel worthy of his friendship, but I am grateful I have it. I love that we have philosophical conversations that last for years. He is brilliant and curious and caring. I am richer because he is my friend.

Chocolate
I like the taste and smell of milk chocolate. I like the extra energy from the sugar, but I especially like the mild anti-depressant effect it has on my mood.
