Hunger strike: the pain of false hope from my mother

  1. Background
    1. I have biological health problems that cause depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.
    2. I have had these problems for many years.
    3. I cannot survive on $3 per day.
    4. I cannot heal without shelter, food, and medicine.
    5. I am on a hunger strike: no food and no water. Unless you help me to survive, I will die sometime between December 21 and Christmas 2017.
  2. Four months ago, my mother unexpectedly contacted me and said she would “make sure” I had a place to live.
  3. She has mostly ignored my worsening problems, and I was shocked that she 1) admitted to herself that my life was horrible, 2) admitted to herself that she could easily help me, 3) had the courage to contact me, and 4) offered meaningful help to me.
  4. She never sent any money.
  5. She never contacted me again.
  6. In addition to the pain of the false hope she gave me, her actions clearly communicated that I have no value to her. Consider the ransom value question I asked you. She made it clear that she knew I was suffering: I didn’t have enough money for shelter, food, or medicine. And she decided that the value of my suffering was zero dollars. My mother would rather see me suffer than send me a single dollar.
  7. Being so clearly rejected by my mother is extremely painful.
  8. Why would I want to live in a world that is happy to see me suffer?
