Scientists say high school should start later

Recent studies show that teenagers cannot regularly fall asleep before 11 pm and that teenagers need eight to ten hours of sleep. Yet many high schools start before 8 am making it impossible for teenagers to get enough sleep. The result: less sleep, lower attendance, lower grades, and more car accidents. Will high schools change? Of course not, high schools are at the forefront of the attack on science: they teach creationism and graduate scientifically illiterate students–why would they use science to improve education?
